FMburgh April 2016 Meeting

The agenda for the evening included a roundtable discussion centered around the topic “Creating User Workflow When There is None”. What do you do when a client wants a database for a process they have never performed? Whether you are a consultant working with a client or an in-house developer working with another department in your organization, this may be a question you’ve had to answer.

Throughout the course of the evening, we discussed how this exercise may vary from clients who do have pre-existing and well-defined processes. We also talked about getting the client goals, the prospective file audience, and the level of usage. We looked at different methods to create a workflow. Finally, we discussed any other thoughts that may arise during the requirement gathering process, which will happen, and how to handle them.

We also had some great discussion on general FileMaker topics as the attendees brought their questions.
