The June meeting of FMburgh, the Pittsburgh FileMaker Developer Group, will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 7:00 PM EDT.
While the state and national health directives related to COVID-19 have been relaxed, we are going to take things slow and hold this meeting virtually once more. Our goal is to resume in-person meetings at Bakery Square in the University of Pittsburgh, Dept. of Rehabilitation Science and Technology Conference Room in August after our customary summer break. Don’t worry though. We will continue to offer a remote attendance option in case you are unable to make it to Bakery Square for any reason.
The agenda for the evening includes a roundtable discussion centered around the topic Would You Rather…
Having been inspired by the recent FileMaker Duel event hosted by Matt Navarre and the Portland Claris FileMaker Developers group at their May meeting, we are going to spend our time discussing various development techniques and why we do things a certain way. “Would you rather use global fields or global variables?” and “Would you rather use a button or a button bar?” are a few of the questions we’ll be asking. As we cover each topic, you may feel strongly one way or the other, or your answer might be “It depends.” Regardless, we’ll have some fun as we discuss the pros and cons of each approach, and we’ll hopefully learn something along way, too.
As is our custom, we will open the floor for general discussion and your questions following the official discussion.
